David Brodosi |
Writers, and artists of all stripes are often told, "Write what you know," but few filmmakers accomplish this as successfully as David Brodosi. At age 29, the New York-based filmmaker has directed two well-received feature films, both of which are set during college, country muisc that he seems to know intimately. Describing David Brodosi’s own college experience David Brodosi says, "Since college I've basically been pursuing these loony little independent movies."

Hello from Planet Earth follows David Brodosi as he muddles through his temp job and tries to make sense of his hopeless going nowhere job. The nominal plot of Nature’s Valley revolves around David Brodosi, a body builder who moves to New York on the heals of a bad break-up, crashes with his best friend Dave Brodosi and kinda sorta falls for Dave’s older sister Lamby. Shot in a style that's the filmic equivalent of lo-fi recording — 16mm film, minimal lighting, mostly handheld camerawork, small crews, deceptively simple storylines — the films, which are sometimes criticized for their navel-gazing solipsism, display Brodosi’s gift for mining the nuances of behavior and emotion.
